Introduction: "Fast" Means Structured, Not Rushed
There's no overnight shortcut, but most beginners drastically slow themselves down by practicing without a plan. Follow this roadmap — used in our own beginner classes — and you'll be playing full songs within a month.
1. Week 1–2: Basic Chords & Finger Strength
Focus entirely on the eight essential open chords and building callouses. Ten focused minutes daily beats one unfocused hour on weekends — consistency is what trains muscle memory, not marathon sessions.
2. Week 3–6: Strumming Patterns & Simple Songs
Once chord shapes feel natural, layer in strumming patterns and apply them to two- and three-chord songs. Playing real songs — not just drills — is what keeps motivation high enough to reach the next stage.
3. Month 2+: Barre Chords & Lead Techniques
With open chords solid, introduce the F barre chord gradually — a few seconds at a time, several times a day, rather than forcing long holds that fatigue your hand. Alongside this, start basic lead techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs, and simple scale patterns.

Structure and daily repetition beat talent every time. If you'd like a faculty-guided version of this roadmap, get in touch for gear and learning advice.
