Dust, skin oils, and food crumbs accumulate beneath keycaps over months of heavy typing. Periodic deep cleaning restores original crisp key travel acoustics.
4-Step Keyboard Deep Clean Process:
- Remove Keycaps with Wire Puller: Snap a photo of your layout first, then gently pull keycaps vertically using a wire keycap puller.
- Soak Keycaps in Warm Soapy Water: Submerge ABS/PBT keycaps in warm water with mild dish soap for 30 minutes, scrub with a soft toothbrush, and air-dry completely.
- Dust Out Switch Plate: Use a brush and compressed air duster to blast debris off the aluminum top plate.
- Clean Plate with Isopropyl Alcohol: Wipe down the plate with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol cotton swabs.
